Cleaning up my internet footprint

Spent most of the day cleaning up old web sites I don't update anymore, getting rid of 5! online photo albums and getting all my pics online in one place. You know some of these sites really don't want you to delete your webpages or photo albums. I never could find out how to delete my Webshots account so I had to delete all my albums and remove any personal info. Hope that takes care of it. I've been meaning to do this for a while just haven't gotten my butt in gear. Hopefully Snapfish won't get bought/traded to anyone anytime soon. I really hate having to relearn a new site and re editing all those pics!!
Decided to make another pair of leg warmers. Want to make them in black/white but don't have any sport weight white. I  have some 'fun fur' in black so I may add that to the top. Don't know how the ribbing will do though. Now to go knit them up!
Reconnected with Kelly. Hopefully we'll be able to get together more often.

Leg Warmers

These are some leg warmers I made on my standard gauge knitting machine. I was reading on the web that one of the new trends in socks is that they don't totally match, so I thought, 'what the heck!' The yarn is Mary Lue's SOLO in Dusty Rose and Bramwell 4 ply in white using the no 1 punchcard that came with my machine. It's the xoxo card.

Feb 23, 2009

Been a while since I posted. We took a trip to CA to care for family and ever since we've been back been feeling out of energy. Not sick or anything just don't want to do anything. I know it's not just me because hubby feels the same way. Guess as you get older it takes longer to recover from stressful situations.
I tried yesterday to do something so I watched some youtube videos about free motion machine embroidery so I thought 'My machine can do that' so I gave it a go. First off when I picked up my machine to set it on the ironing board 2 containers of pins fell off the board and landed on the carpet. Then after getting all the pins picked up, and getting stuck in the process, I tried the embroidery thing. Got my machine all set up, fabric and stabilizer in the hoop and then..... the hoop won't fit under my needle! Geez! It was just one of those days!
Today was better. I decided to make me some socks. My old knee hi socks don't fit well because I was experimenting and didn't want to throw them away. Dug out an old pattern with the gauge for some Mary Lue's SOLO that I had then I decided to do a fair isle pattern. Well the fair isle doesn't stretch like regular knitting so that sock didn't fit. Made another one in regular stockinette and it fit. The ribbing at my calf is pretty snug so may have to play with that. But the fair isle wasn't a total loss I really liked the pattern I used. It was the SOLO in a Dusty Rose color with white using the no 1 punch card, xoxoxo, ( no, not hugs and kisses! LOL). I put it on the 'elongated' setting so I got 2 rows of each design and the material is nice and thick. Would make a nice heavy vest or cardi! The swatch felt very warm and soft! Till later..

Jan 24, 2011

Well my idea of knitting two strands of 2/20 yarn to make shorts isn't going to work. The material is too thick and stiff. I also think they would be too hot for our summers, and a little too tight for me. I'll have to make them in 4 pieces and 1 strand after all! Oh well chalk it up to a 'learning' experience!

Finished my knit shorts today. Spent the whole morning on the couch listening to The Car Guys, and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me on NPR stitching them up. Then I got lazy and laid down on the couch just vegging out. Got woke up when our neighbor brought over some macaroni and cheese they made on their smoker. Damn was it good! The recipe came with the smoker. It had 5 cheeses in it yum yum! Then I made two gauge swatches for some shorts. I did 2 strands of 2/20 acrylic on one, and 1 strand of 10/2 cotton and 1 strand of 10/2 cotton slub. I'm trying to get a gauge close to the pattern Pat gave me when I bought my machine from her. I'm really close so when I put it in Knitware I should be able to make the shorts in 2 pieces instead of 4. Will steam and measure it later tonight and maybe start on another pair tomorrow.

Jan 21,2011

Another nice day here! Finished my yard work, at least the weeding, still too cold at night to mess with the plants much. Finished my mom's b'day present and got it in an envelope to be mailed off. Read some mail and caught up on my newsletters.
I wasn't planning on posting to this blog but so far I find I kinda like doing this. I can go over my day and see what I've actually accomplished! Still early in the day too to get some more stuff done! I've got to start on my shorts again. Had to cut the pattern into 4ths as I didn't have enough NDLs on the machine to knit such fine yarn in 2 pieces. Had to stop and do some crocheting so have to get back in gear again. Got a little tired after doing all that yard work. Lots of hoeing and pulling weeds. Have a good strong cup of tea and starting to feel better.

Jan 20, 2011

Got a lot done today! Worked out in the yard again. Wasn't as warm as a few days ago but still the sun was shining with no wind! I weeded another bed, cut back the asters, and columbines, which are already starting to come up! My Dragon Lily is starting to come up too! Hope it doesn't get too cold or the tender tips will get burned. I really need to move one of them as it really doesn't get enough sun. Haven't checked the other lily. It was absolutely beautiful last year! Got to 5 ' tall and only the second year. Was loaded with blooms in a pretty coppery orange.
Made my mom a pair of earrings for her birthday next month. I found a cute pattern a while back that I had in mind for her. It called for size 10 thread but I used size 8 pearl cotton tatting thread in terracotta. Very nice to work with. Hope she likes them!
